ImaGEN to install self-contained southeast coast hydrogen generation and fueling station
ImaGEN™, a provider of hydrogen generation technology, recently signed an agreement with the City of Columbia, South Carolina to assume the management and operation of an existing hydrogen fueling station for five years and will integrate its innovative Tru-H2™ technology into the facility, making it the first on-site, on-demand hydrogen fueling station of its kind.
The Columbia site will initially function as a comprehensive demonstration center for ImaGEN’s Tru-H2™and Tru-Fuelä low-cost, easily configurable hydrogen generation technology which will provide clean power for initial use cases like city infrastructure maintenance equipment. Once complete, the site will showcase the versatility of the technology and demonstrate how clean hydrogen can be safely generated on-site and on-demand for use in several industrial applications.
Additionally, ImaGEN expects to demonstrate its ability to recycle and regenerate its fuel, which would be industry-first, further extending the renewability and reducing the levelized cost of the hydrogen it produces.
According to Ron Seftick, “this achievement is the result of our team’s focus on transitioning our patented technology to meet market demands for more versatile hydrogen solutions as part of a scalable network that uses a fuel that is safe, portable, and cost-effective.”
Seftick also stated, “By utilizing readily available chemicals also found in several other large industries around the world today, ImaGEN has been able to achieve a level of H2 production that was previously thought unattainable. Furthermore, on-site hydrogen generation eliminates many safety issues associated with transporting and storing high-pressure gases, and our process is so safe and precise that indoor hydrogen generation is absolutely feasible, expanding the usability of hydrogen in the future.”
This new agreement marks an initial milestone in the adoption of clean energy and represents another step forward in the advancement of hydrogen generation technology.
